One of the best loved Victorian astronomers, Thomas William Webb (18061885) was driven by a strong desire to inform and enthuse others with his own passion for star gazingviewing the wonders and glories of creation under ordinary circumstances. From his vicarage at Hardwicke, near Hay on Wye, there he issued a stream of books, articles and letters on the subject. He is a fine example of the type of English parson naturalist
